How to Pray for a Missionary

In Ephesians 6:19 the Apostle Paul requests prayer for himself as a missionary.  The same prayer needs exist for missionaries to this day.

1.  For words.  In any cross-cultural situation, especially outside one's own language, words are the most important, and sometime most difficult tools to master.

2.  For fearlessness.  Imagine the Apostle Paul, of all people, admitting fear.  Yet he asks twice in this passage to pray that he wouldn't be afraid.  Living and working cross-culturally always brings certain moments of nervousness, anxiety, and even fear.

3.  For success, to make known the mystery of the Gospel.  This is more than just hit-and-miss evangelism and tracts.  It is purposefully revealing the impact of the Gospel through skilled communication as well as through everyday life.  It's talking the walk, and walking the talk.

Take a moment to pray for your missionaries!

On the Road in Indiana

Indiana's license plates used to read "Wander Indiana".  That's what we've been up to lately!  My wife and kids seem to "enjoy" it when I'm not exactly sure where I am or how to get where I need to go.  "Mommy, is Daddy lost again?"  But I never get truly lost!  After all I could always back-track if absolutely necessary, or if in total desperation I could actually stop and (gasp!) ask for directions.  But in time-honored male tradition, I'd much rather "Wander Indiana".
